Sun shining over boats on deploy on the pierLEADIN Luxury boats are back on the agenda in Lebanon with the return of the Beirut International Boat Show. After a three year absence, the city's luxury marina is playing host to boats and yachts displayed by more than 40 exhibitors from six countries. STORYLINEAlong one of the piers of Beirut's lavish marina, the latest models of speedboats have been put on display under the skyscrapers of the capital's waterfront central district.Three years after it was last held, the Beirut International Boat Show is now back and celebrating its 10th edition. 45 exhibitors from 6 different countries are participating this year, according to the event organisers. Rhea Aoun, Beirut Boat Show organiser says:\"It's a boating, yachting and luxury exhibition, happening here for the first time at the Beirut Marina Solidere, so we're very happy to be here. We're here  on the pier area. The show this year has gathered over 45 exhibitors from 6 different countries, from Lebanon, Turkey, Cyprus, the Netherlands, the UK, the UAE. The types of companies that we have are boat owners, boat dealers, marine sports equipment, real estate developers, furniture equipment, luxury and so on.\" Luxury boats are a common sight here where dozens of high-class yachts are usually docked, and sea-lovers are able to get up close to some of the latest models. Super-yachts builder Benetti is one of the companies displaying itsboats. The Italian maker is among the most recognisable brands when it comes to exclusive design in shipbuilding with almost 150 years of sea tradition and innovation.The company's area manager for Middle East and Turkey, Nabil El Jammal says Lebanon is an important market. \"This is actually one of our most lively yachting communities and Beirut is well known for the yachting lifestyle and it was very important for to see that the event is restarting and Benetti's commitment is to be part of it since day one.\"While not comparable in size and numbers to a maritime event like the one in Dubai, the Beirut Boat Show is nevertheless an important chance to get acquainted with new customers in the region.\"Middle East has been a significant driver for the yachting industry since many years, the seventies onwards, and absolutely we see extremely knowledgeable yachtsmen, demanding clients, and this is very important also to drive the technology to improve, the models to be more exiting. As I said this is from the seventies onwards, and now we are seeing a new generation of middle eastern clients with extremely interesting design briefs so it's a very exiting scenario for the yachting industry,\" he says.And while western companies have been sailing to the Middle East, a Lebanese family decided to sail west.The Zeenni family started their boat business about 4 years ago, when they built a luxurious fast boat for themselves. They eventually turned it into \"a very proud company,\"  says Roy Zeenni, co-owner of Zee Marine,  a company exporting boats from its shipyard in north Lebanon to European clients.The design of the Zee 44, their very first \"family\" boat, was inspired by a modern navy destroyer. \"This is a modern cut, a very modern boat, which has very good specification in wave-piercing and in performance and in leisure as well,\" says Zeenni. The price ranges from 400 to 550 thousand US dollars.The Beirut International Boat Show runs from 20 to 24 May.
