Sun City in Wadi Rum desert is made up of 20 dome tents near where the movie 'The Martian' was filmed in 2015.STORYLINE:As the suns shines over the red sand dunes of Wadi Rum, the desert takes on a decidedly Martian appearance. A series of domes dot the landscape - much like the domed habitat in the 2015 film 'The Martian', starring Matt Damon, which was shot nearby.Tourists looking for an out of this world experience are now able to book one of these luxury tents offering uninterrupted views of the desert. Wadi Rum has been the inspiration for many Hollywood films, including Lawrence of Arabia which helped cement its place as a tourist destination. While the domes are new, camping in traditional Bedouin tents has been a popular option for many visitors. Each dome comes with its own terrace, room service, private bathroom, air conditioning, a queen sized bed and a panoramic window. The camp also boasts a restaurant serving traditional Bedouin meals.Visitors are taken on guided tours and can ride camels into the sunset. \"It's very nice, you can do (many) activities, it's like in the movie 'Martian' and it's hot but nice,\" says visitor Elay. American tourist Sandy is visiting with her daughter Losy and says it's been an amazing adventure. \"We drove around, we saw all kinds of crazy dunes, lots of colours, so I would say adventure would be describing our experience.\"  Another visitor, Baskal is equally impressed with the camp: \"They said it's the best camp in Jordan, we think it's truly the case, it is fantastic as a location, we enjoy the camel trip, and it feels like on Mars it's truly like on a different planet.\"Sun City's manager Tariq Khadir says the domes were only added in the last month to offer a new experience. \"The camp Sun City opened about 3 years ago and we added a new idea about a month ago with rooms as domes, the visitor can see the stars when inside the dome. The idea came from the movie The Martian. We still have the old tents because it's from our heritage and our Bedouin life.\" In recent years, Jordan's tourism industry has been affected by instability in the region and the neighbouring war in Syria and Iraq. However Jordan Tourism analyst, Eid Nawafleh says things are picking up. \"The tourism in Jordan has been affected by the political situation around Jordan, and it has been dropped about 40 to 45 percent,  but lately this year from March and April and May we noticed some increase and picking up of tourism in Jordan.\"Wadi Rum, Jordan - 29 April 20171.
