When he found this metal jerry can and the ammunition box of war remnants, he tried to bang on it so it produced a good sound,\" he says.The Jerry Can Band was founded in 2003 in Al Arish city in north Sinai.Their aim is to demonstrate the triumph of art over war.\"Despite the unstable security situation we are facing in Sinai, praise God we are presenting our art everywhere,\" says band member Aly Salama.\"We are performing in many places, inside Sinai and outside Sinai; Cairo, Alexandria, Sharm Al Sheikh and all over Egypt.\"But security concerns can be an obstacle to their performances.This time, the band spent 12 hours on the road before they reached Cairo due to \"security check points inspection and the unstable weather conditions\", according to Ibrahim.But he says they are highlighting the \"other face of Sinai which is the art, and the human beings whom in spite of the security state, the current conditions and the terrorism are still there.\"The Jerry Can Band has performed at international festivals, including Glastonbury in the UK and others in Australia and New Zealand.The musicians have also released an album called \"Coffee Time\".Cairo - 13 April 20171. Before they used mainly \"Alshabanah\" - an instrument from Sinai that looks like the flute - and shepherds' flute.
