Shine was not accused of any direct wrongdoing, but he was considered vulnerable because of claims that he looked the other way as charges of toxic workplace behavior piled up.Founding CEO Roger Ailes, leading TV personality Bill O'Reilly and a top financial executive also recently left Fox.   \"Well they deserved it. Yeah, of course,\" said King at an event Monday (1 May) honoring his lengthy career in television and radio. Actor Corey Feldman was among the celebrity crowd to attend King's Hollywood party. \"I'm sad to see it, of course, and I hope, of course, for everybody's sake that it's not true,\" Feldman said of the Fox turmoil. \"But then again, as a victim, as a recovering victim, I have to say that my heart always goes out to those who have been, you know, injured or abused in any way. It's just not right and it's got to stop.\"The 83-year-old King, who was celebrating 60 years in broadcasting, said his secret to longevity was simply luck.  \"I can't believe it's seven decades, 60 years. If I make it to 2020, that would be eight decades. I keep thinking about that because I'm 83. I don't feel 83. No, I feel good, yeah. You need a little luck for longevity. As Sinatra said, there's a lot to be said for longevity. Must be doing something right,\" he said. King's Hollywood pals -- including Jenna Elfman, Donna Mills and singer Pat Boone -- came out to support him in his big night.  \"He cares. He's not out to get anybody. He asks penetrating questions. He's been at it a long time, but he's a friend,\" said Boone.On of King's interviews, model and reality TV star Janice Dickinson, was also on hand to toast the TV veteran. \"It's 60 years in broadcasting! Can you imagine that? That's amazing! And the people that Larry King has interviewed over the years: presidents, dictators and me!\" she said with a laugh. Though the evening was a celebration of King's many accomplishments, the ongoing writers' guild negations weighed on some partygoers.  \"It's always a sad thing when those kinds of things happen because it sort of stops everybody in their tracks and their creativity. And you know it's depressing and there's nothing good about it. You know you hope that the outcome will be satisfactory to everyone, but I don't know how often that happens. It's really a sadness,\" said actress Tippi Hedren.Negotiations aimed at preventing a crippling strike by Hollywood movie and TV writers were down to the wire Monday night.  That the Writers Guild of America and the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers talked over the weekend and continued on Monday was a hopeful sign. The current contract expires at midnight PDT Monday.But with both sides observing a strict news blackout, there was no official indication of how close they are to a deal on key issues including compensation and health care. \"Well we've had that before. It's the law of the land, bargaining. I believe in the right to strike if people aren't happy and negotiations,\" said King. Guild members were advised to remain ready to strike as they await what should be \"something substantive\" on progress by Tuesday morning, a memo from WGA negotiators said.\"Of course that's the lifeblood of entertainment is the writers. I thought they were pretty well-paid, really a lot of them are. But maybe there's needs to still be some corrections or some enhancement because they are our life blood,\" said Boone. The previous writers' strike lasted 100 days in 2007-08 and was costly to the businesses that serve Hollywood and to consumers expecting to be entertained.
