The three day event is one of the world's biggest trade shows for animals and the ultimate destination for animal lovers looking for the latest products to pamper their pets. STORYLINE:Surf's up at America's Family Pet Expo in California. At this three day event in Orange Country, it's all about the animals.  In its 28th year, the expo is described as the world's largest and features performances, education, pet care tips, adoptions and the latest trending products. Organisers say more than a thousand different animals are on display including dogs, cats, fish, and reptiles. There are also many pet visitors keen to try the latest products on sale, including special drink containers, clothes and toys. The spokeswoman for America's Family Pet Expo, Jennifer Becker says there are more than 150 booths catering for an animal's every need.\"You are going to find animal entertainment. We have performance dog shows. We have the international cat association and their speciality cat breeds. We have an entire expo dedicated to reptiles Repticon. We have a fish expo for anything in aquarium and aquascaping. We have pet products anything in the newest in the industry, you'll find here.\" In 2017, it's estimated  that 69.36 billion US dollars will be spent on pet products, compared to $66.75 billion in 2016, according to the American Pet Products Association.This year, new trends include pet jellyfish, now sold in sleek desk top aquariums.For 340 US dollars, you can get a stylish table top aquarium with coloured LED lights and three jellyfish.Bred specially in Coconut Creek, Florida, these jellyfish do not sting. Joe Turner, General Manager of Jellyfish Art says they're the ultimate low maintenance pet. \"We use something called Moon jellyfish which are in every ocean around the world. They're displayed in crizal tanks which is basically an open water environment, simulation there of, and they come with LED lights that allow you to change the colours inside of the tanks and basically have jellyfish at home as pets.\"For dogs there's a new glow in the dark lead called Nitey Leash ($19.95 USD). Joseph Hassan, President of Nitey Leash says it's perfect for night time walks.\"Nitey Leash is the first and only fibre optic dog leash. It's the only leash that is illuminated from end to end to keep your dog safe at night time.\"And if you're looking to keep your pet cool and out of the sun, you can always invest in a new portable canopy from Shady Paws. For $129 USD, the dog can relax in the sun without getting too hot.But maybe dog hair is a bigger issue? Shed Defender claims to contain dog hair, reduce dirt and allergens while also helping with skin issues.The leotard-style outfit starts at $39.99 USD.Too busy to take your dog for a walk? How about a dog treadmill so your furry friend can work out without leaving home. No spill dog water bottles from The Pup Cup let you dispense the right amount of water when on the move with your dog. The cup costs 20 US dollars with an extra $5.00 for a case with a belt clip.And if you're treating your dog like royalty, then a home fit for a king must be in order. Architecturally designed dog houses can be custom built to suit your home decor needs with prices starting at $300 and going up to $1,100 USD.Bow Wow Dog Houses say they use UV protection materials to encourage air flow and to keep dogs cool.For those who want to remember their pets once they pass away, pet cremation jewellery from Beadloved puts the ashes inside the stones of bracelets and necklaces.Prices start from US$100. The Lucy Pet Foundation is turning heads with its surfing pooch. The foundation offers free services for under privileged pet owners in the Los Angeles area.Joey Herrick, President and Founder of the Lucy Pet Foundation, also makes Lucy Products - a new line of dog food to help keep pets healthy. \"It's taking pre-biotic fibres in a diverse plant, in the right ratios, and it will actually make a very strong army of good bacteria in the digestive system of the dog or cat and that's out first line of defence for immunity,\" says Herrick.Maryanne Dell, Pets Editor at the Orange County Register newspaper, says she's noticed more products designed to help people stay active with their pet. \"What I'm seeing is the trend of people doing more with their animals and a lot of it is interactive and athletic. You can buy a treadmill for your dog that you can set up in your home and your dog can run along with you while you're on your treadmill. You can buy agility equipment for your cat. We're all used to seeing dog agility well now there's cat agility,\" says Dell. Keeping your cat amused is the aim of the game for Catit, a Canadian brand that makes innovative pet products.The Flower Fountain ($29.99 USD) helps cats who don't like to drink still water to enjoy a rippling mini fountain.The Catit Wellness Center ($24.95) allows the pet to scratch itself and relax.The Food Tree ($19.99) makes them work for their food so they don't eat so quickly.
