Then there's the dance piece which is choreographed by Jason Mabana, which is really wonderful and carries a sort of… In a sense dance is abstract and it obviously carries the meaning of it without words. And then the words come in the form of a testimony from people from Aleppo, from Syria. I think the three elements together really enforce the power, I hope, the power of the piece.\"3. SOUNDBITE: (English) Jason Mabana, choreographer:\"So I have twelve dancers that all are from different backgrounds and train in different dance styles from hip-hop to ballet to contemporary. So the atmosphere in the room is very rich, I feel like I can get different things from different dancers and having different languages in the room really gives this thing of, I don't know the meaning of the world, being together from different places and that thing does for this particular work, it was very inspiring to have different cultures in the room.\" 5. SOUNDBITE: (English) Jason Mabana, choreographer:\"For the spoken word I wanted to integrate a bit more of a meditative choreography so that the choreography isn't doesn't disturb the spoken word. But it's just that you have time as an audience to really understand and not have the eyes taking away by movement that they will blend together well.\"7. Wide shot David Cazalet being interviewed8. SOUNDBITE: (English) David Cazalet, creator/producer/composer:\"There are obviously folk who, from Syria, from Aleppo in the UK, but not very many. So we then had to record people on mobile phones who are in Turkey, who didn't want to be named, who just wanted to give a sense of where they are in their lives. And we've brought a number of different voices all together in this process and some of them are very moving. And you really realise, I think the critical part for me, there's a tendency when we think of a crisis or a refugee crisis, it becomes impersonal. And there's just a lot of people. We've noticed especially with the vocals.\" Riva: \"Yeah. The sounds of it, the lyrics that David put on it and also what we know about it. And then we have to find like for us, what does it mean really because we're not there and what is our… what can we do and how can we be there but not there? It gets weird.\" Egan-Sitinjak: \"It's definitely been a journey finding how..\" Riva: \"Yeah also what's the meaning of what we're doing.\" Egan-Sitinjak: \"Yeah and how we interact with each other and with the space and with the sounds and music, it's... yeah. We are completely apolitical. What we're focused on is the relief of human suffering basically and our expertise is obviously in technology and it's interesting for us to partner up with these more arty projects which will help to reach a new audience and engage them with some of the issues that Syrian people are facing.\" 12. SOUNDBITE: (English) Anna Farina, Head of Office, Syria Relief London:\"It's absolutely amazing because obviously here you put together the art and the culture aspect with the humanitarian work, none of us want to raise any political messages. Syria relief is absolutely, 100% humanitarian and we help where there is need. So the idea of putting together something like a dance performance which is still a way to give hope to people, with something happening inside Syria which is obviously a humanitarian tragedy, it's very positive.\"14. Behind the scenes - dancers rehearsing for \"Requiem for Aleppo\"LEADIN A performance piece inspired by stories from war-torn Aleppo in Syria will make its debut in London this weekend. \"Requiem for Aleppo\" combines spoken word, music and dance and will be broadcast live around the world. STORYLINEThe performance, which is staged at Sadler's Wells Theatre in London, will be streamed online and also in cities where the Aleppo diaspora has settled - including Cairo, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Istanbul, Berlin, Paris and Barcelona.Speaking at the Rambert dance studios during the final rehearsals, \"Requiem for Aleppo\" creator/producer/composer, David Cazalet explains how the project came about, and the synergy between the music, spoken word and dance: \"There's the music which I've composed which is a combination of the Christian lyrics of the requiem mass with old Arabic poetry, all set to music,\" says Cazalet.The words come in the form of testimony from people from Aleppo and it's their reflections on their city, their lives and the situation.
