The palace noted that because her sentence was reduced to three years, she can serve out the remainder of her term outside prison.Her lawyer Dario Bolognesi said he would advise de Sousa to request the Milan Courthouse to be entrusted in the care of social services somewhere in Italy.He explained they have 30 days from Tuesday to file such request. The Italian president (Sergio) Mattarella, following our petition and many other defence lawyers' requests, granted one year's clemency to Sabrina de Sousa, so the sentence was reduced to three years, and for this kind of sentence there is no jail time. So the restrictive measure was cancelled, the European arrest warrant was cancelled and currently Sabrina de Sousa is free in Lisbon.\"4. Lawyers talking to each other and looking at documents5. However I believe I am well interpreting what my client thinks, saying this measure by the President of Italy was appropriate and just, first of all since de Sousa always declared herself innocent, and second because both President Mattarella and former President (Giorgio) Napolitano had already granted clemency in full, or partially, to other US defendants in the same trial.\"8. I believe she will decide to come to Italy, in fact her husband has Italian origins, and she knows well Rome and Milan and other main Italian cities. So she might decide to come to Italy to define this issue in the shortest times possible with an entrustment to social care services to agree with the Milan courthouse.
