The German carmakers are promoting a new fuel system which blends compressed synethic methane gas and gasoline modes. STORYLINE : Audi is drawing on its sporty reputation at the Geneva Motorshow, blending race car specs with environmentally friendly options. \"The new Audi SQ5 combines performance and functionality. Its the sportiest member of the Q5 family\" says Dr. Dietmar Voggenreiter, an Audi board member. The car boasts 354 horse power, whilst claiming fuel efficiency, with an average fuel consumption of around 8.5 litres per 100 km.  Audi also launched the A5 Sportback g-tron, an eco-friendly sports car that runs on compressed synthetic gas and gasoline. The hybrid vehicle can cover up to 500 kms on the e-gas, which when combined with its petrol mode provides a total range of 950 kms says Voggenreiter.\"This car however is special, it runs on both, on gas and gasoline. It has a special tanks for CNG (compressed natural gas) with a total capacity of 19 kilograms those tanks have an extra lightweight design but are extremely strong. Running on CNG, ladies and gentlemen, the A5 Sportback g-tron covers upto 500 kilometres combined with its gasoline operation its total range is 950 kilometres. The A5 Sportback g-tron brings us one closer to CO2 neutral long distance mobility.\" It emits 80% less CO2 than comparable gasoline powered cars explains Voggenreiter.Renewable energy is used for electrolysis, which splits water into hydrogen and oxygen and in a second stage the hydrogen is combined with CO2 to create synthetic methane. The CO2 comes from a biogas plant. The resulting compressed gas takes driving closer to long distance cleaner driving, says Voggenreiter. The Audi Q8 plug-in hybrid concept car has 330 kW of system output and 700 Nm (516.3 lb-ft) of torque. Audi plans to bring to the market a production car based on the Audi Q8 plug-in hybrid concept in 2018. Stephan Winkelmann, CEO Audi Sport GMBH, unveiled the Audi RS Coupe.  \"Motorsport is in our DNA. It is part of our roots and Audi sports stands for passion, passion for performance, passion for prestige, passion for forward thinking.\" The RS coupe boasts 450 horse power, can reach 0-100 km/hr in just 3.9 seconds and has a top speed of 280 km/hr, plus a four wheel drive system.
