Galentine's Day is here. Ever since the tradition was made up in an episode of the TV comedy \"Parks and Recreation,\" in 2010, women have been designating the day before Valentine's Day as Galentine's Day.Around the country women marked the anti-holiday with brunches with their best friends, arts and crafts projects or just break-the-ice games. In Nashville, Tennessee, resident Taylor Chew hosted her first ever Galentine's Day. Chew and her friends popped champagne, decorated cookie houses and chatted about Beyonce, movies and TV shows. \"The idea is to bring together not just gals, but pals,\" said Chew. \"Anybody that wants to come. My idea isn't so much an event for single girls but an event where you can kind of get together and just feel good about whatever you are celebrating. So if that's celebrating loving yourself or loving a friend or loving your partner. Or just creating fun things with them or for them. And having Valentine's Day free to do as you will, whether it's celebrate or gloat. But having this as a celebration before hand.\" Chew, who hosts regular craft nights at her house for people to socialize, said the holiday is about loving yourself, whether you're in a relationship or not.\"Just kind of remembering that it doesn't have to be about love and a boyfriend, and sex and restaurants,\" Chew said. \"It can be about friendship and just getting to know other people and encouraging them and meeting them where they are at. Just have a good night. Celebrate who we are and not needing anyone else to prove that.\"Her guests agreed that it took the pressure off the Valentine's holiday. \"I feel like Valentine's Day isn't really restricted to celebrating with your significant other,\" said Jordan Miller. \"And I feel like there's multiple people you can love in your life, so for me's it's just celebrating the women around you and putting some love into their lives as well.\"In Peachtree City, Georgia, outside of Atlanta, women got together for a Galentine's Day social to meet new people, play games, eat food and talk. \"Ladies are different from men in that they need time to talk,\" said Katie Watts. \"And when you talk to your husband it can be a little different than talking to your girlfriends. And then we'll be making what are called love shacks. And I saw this on Pinterest and I am huge fan of getting inspiration from Pinterest. So they are like gingerbread houses, but they are made out of graham crackers and we'll be decorating them with all kinds of Valentine's candy, so you know like Red Hots, and Jelly Bellies, even Kit Kats.
