Pia Wurtzbach will see her reign end when a new Miss Universe is crowned later this month.\"It's bittersweet because its' been a childhood dream of mine to become Miss Universe. It took me a long time to get here so I never actually thought of the day where I had to pass it on. But it's great and I'm ready to move on. I'm here now in New York City and the Empire State Building, what more can I ask for? C'mon. I'm happy,\" Wurtzbach said.As Miss USA, Deshauna Barber will vie for the Miss Universe title.  And that's on top of her other occupation.\"I'm a captain in the United States Army Reserve. I serve as a commander for a logistic unit out of Fort Meade, Maryland, so I've been able to balance the two, not only representing as a soldier but also representing as Miss USA,\" Barber said.Barber says her fellow soldiers have been supportive of her accomplishment.\"They actually like the fact that I can show the feminine side of a female soldier, so I'm incredibly excited to have that honor,\" Barber said.During her nearly one-year reign as Miss Universe, Wurtzbach has noticed a positive shift in the kinds of questions she's asked. She feels going on the beauty and pageant questions lets people know more about the contestant.\"I think nowadays we should be asking these important questions to the candidates of Miss Universe because these are relevant issues that are happening right now. In that was you get to see how well-versed a girl is, if she's ready for the job, and it also gets the audience thinking,\" Wurtzbach said.Barber also feels there's much more than beauty when it comes to pageant winners.\"Being that I'm in the United States Army Reserve, I'm able to show there is so much - there is so much to pageant girls than a crown and sash. It's really a person under that crown and sash that is what she represents.
