At the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, US-based Hanson Robotics is debuting its soon-to-be-released smart creation.This small, robotic version of Einstein, is complete with wild hair and cheeky facial expressions.Known for creating lifelike robots, Hanson Robotics created this droid to help children learn about science. It's controlled via an app.\"Having a robot that has character personality is a very different robot or a very different way of people interacting with a robot,\" says Andy Rifkin from Hanson Robotics.\"This is more of personal friend, a genius. Somebody to help you, help you learn, help you have fun, help you play.\"France-based company Yumii is demonstrating its friendly elderly assistance robot.\"Cutii\" works with voice and facial recognition. Through a simple user interface, elderly people are able to interact with others. The friendly-looking droid helps elderly users forge social connections with others, while also giving them a quick and simple link to friends, families, doctors and caregivers.\"Yumii will change the daily life of the elders. Through Yumii, you're connected with a community, your family, caretakers and doctors\" explains Antoine Bataille, CEO of Yumii.\"And for instance, the elders just call Yumii, just with the voice. A student can visit a museum for you and through a video, you have a museum.\"Meet Leka, a robotic toy designed specifically for children with autism.It's an interactive and multi-sensory smart toy that allows children with special needs the ability to play games that motivate social interactions, while increasing emotional skills.The smiley droid can detect and respond to a child's interaction through autonomous behaviours. It's claimed these interactive responses help children with autism better understand social cues and improve their social skills. \"Robotics is very interesting for autism because it's stable, it shows less information and the child can interact easily with it,\" explains Marine Couteau from Leka.\"So it's a mediator between the child and the caregiver.
