God willing we will gain experiences from them. They are at a high level (of ability) and this will help us develop the Palestinian national team,\" says Hisham Abu Shekhidem, a team manager and a former player for Hebron's Al-Ahli football club.Chile is believed to be the home of the largest Palestinian community outside of the Arab world, most from the historically Christian towns of Bethlehem, Beit Jala and Beit Sahur. The team's red, white, black and green jersey represents the colours of the Palestinian flag and the community's attachment to their ancestral land.Player Agustin Farias says it is an \"honour\" to visit the West Bank.\"The personal importance of this visit is one of a visit to the motherland, the land of our forefathers and we wish for the Palestinian team to further develop and to reach the World Cup,\" says Christian Elben Nazal, Palestino team general manager.Palestino hasn't escaped controversy linked to the Israeli / Palestinian conflict. In 2014, the Chilean Football Federation forced the club to alter its jersey because it carried the number one in the shape of historical Palestine before the establishment of Israel.During this visit the team applied for a permit to enter Gaza but was denied.
