The actress was joined by co-stars including Diego Luna on Saturday (10 December 2016) at the Hollywood premiere of \"Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.\" She plays the heroine Jyn Erso in the film, set in a time of conflict and unrest before George Lucas' original 1977 \"Star Wars\" movie. A whole new batch of characters joins the Rebel fight, including her scientist father, Galen (Mads Mikkelsen); a rebel spy, Cassian (Diego Luna) and his sarcastic droid K-2SO (Alan Tudyk); an extremist, Saw Gerrera (Forest Whitaker); and a pilot for the Empire, Bodhi Rook (Riz Ahmed).Jones brought her family to the film's premiere, and Luna brought along his 8-year-old son. \"I have been very nervous all day, yeah,\" the Mexican star said. \"I ate like four times before lunchtime. I so want this to be over. I want the credits to come out and to be able to just hug the team and deliver the film to the audience, right? Because we've been waiting so long for this night. All of the secrecy is about to be over. That also is important for me. I want to go back home and talk to my friends and tell them everything I couldn't say before. I want to hug my kids and see their reaction.\" Luna praised director Gareth Edwards' approach to the movie. \"This is a great film that has a soul and that has that rebel kind of attitude and philosophy behind. It's a film about the people. It's a film about people changing their reality and fighting for freedom. It's quite an important message to send today,\" he said. Jones said she and the rest of the cast saw the film for the first time a week ago in San Francisco. \"I kept expecting George Lucas just as a hologram to suddenly appear in the corner. It was fantastic. It was fabulous. I can't tell you how much love and affection and work has gone into this film. So it was a very special moment to be watching it for the first time with everyone at the core of it who was putting it together,\" she said. Ben Mendelsohn plays a villain named Director Orso. The Australian actor concurs with Jones: \"Yeah, we were very moved. We were really stunned by the impact of it. It's a very, very strong movie. And yeah, there were moments of like 'Wow – we are in a 'Star Wars' film. It was emotional for some people, yes.\"\"Rogue One\" hits theaters next week. There are already two more standalone \"Star Wars\" movies in the works, including a young Han Solo film for 2018.
