This year's tree comes to us from the great state of Idaho.  There were plenty of good candidates for the Capitol Christmas tree.  (Superintendent of Capitol Grounds) Ted (Bechtel) selected this particular tree for its branching habit, its ability to hold ornaments well and its overall shape and color.  Today, once the tree is unbound, a crane will lift it from the trailer and set it into place on the west front lawn of the Capitol.  Our talented Capitol grounds crew will spend the next several days decorating the tree with thousands of LED lights and hanging thousands of ornaments as well.\"3. The Little Ski Hill was established 79 years ago, so this tree was just a sapling when people started to ski there.  Generations of McCall kids have learned to ski there and six winter Olympians got their start at the Little Ski Hill.  At one of our 31 stops across the country, at Weiser, Idaho, I met an 89-year old woman and she remembered skiing over this tree as a kid when she was learning to ski at The Little Ski Hill. And every Christmas tree needs a lot of ornaments, and (Superintendent of Capitol Grounds) Ted Bechtel asked us to bring a lot of big shiny ornaments and so we did that.  We've got 6,000 big shiny ornaments all covered in glitter, a lot of glitter, 20 pounds of glitter is going to be on this tree.\"6.
