They are joined by members of trade unions and civil society organisations from Taiz province.The World Food Program is warning of a worsening food crisis in war-wracked Yemen, saying the 19-month conflict has increased hunger and malnutrition. The UN estimates that more than half of Yemen's population is suffering from malnutrition. Protesters say the government's failure to pay salaries amounts to a war crime. They want representatives of the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights in Yemen to put pressure on the government.\"We are asking for the legitimate government, since it is responsible for this, to pay civil servants their salaries, and save the country from collapse,\" says Dr. Said Iskandar of the University of Taiz.Following President Abed Rabbo Mansour Hadi's decision in September to move the headquarters of the Central Bank of Yemen from Sanaa to Aden, it was believed his government would be fully responsible for paying all salaries of civil servants in Yemen. However, currently most of these employees, especially in Taiz, have not received their salaries for more than two months.\"This is a clear message to the legitimate government to stick to its commitments and promises it gave employees in this city and in every place in Yemen. To pay salaries, and find a solution for the problem - that more than 10 million people are waiting for their salaries to be paid.
