Officials at these meetings say that a decades-long effort to tear down trade barriers has lifted millions of people in poor nations out of poverty. Officials say the problem is that not enough has been done to protect workers who have lost jobs because of the greater competition from developing countries.\"We took a very rounded approach to trade and in a way to make it more inclusive, but also more powerful, or exploit better instruments to promote growth,\" said Agustin Carstens, the chairman of the IMF's policy committee.  Before the IMF and World Bank meetings, finance ministers and central bankers of the Group of 20 major economies renewed a pledge to utilize all the policy tools at their disposal to combat what has been an anemic global recovery from the Great Recession triggered by the 2008 financial crisis.The G-20 includes traditional economic powers such as the United States, Germany and Japan and emerging economies such as China, Brazil and India.Washington, DC - 8 October 20161. Let's get on with it, and see some action on the part of other authorities as well, so that combining their forces, that's what we call the comprehensive approach, giving some time horizon to the work they do. It's not going to happen in one budget, and doing it together, they can actually deliver something that will move the needle of growth, which as we have said again, has been too low, for too long, benefitting too few. 7.
