STORY-LINE:Located in the eastern Yemeni city of Marib, Marib Dam camp contains Internally Displaced Persons who have fled fighting in their home towns and cities. Children play on stony ground as a young girl lights a fire in a crudely built outdoor stove. Life here is as basic as it gets.The camp is divided into two parts, one is located in the north called Al-Athna, and the other one is in the south and called Al-Rawda camp. Each section has its problems and worries.The number of people who fled to this camp is more than 1500 form Serwah area in which the ongoing clashes between the Shiite Houthis and supporting forces on the one hand and the forces loyal to Yemeni President Abed Rabbo Mansour Hadi, on the other.The camp lacks the most basic essentials, including a lack of water.Tents are scattered, and huts made of straw are set up next to the dam, but the floods came and filled the dam and washed away many tents. So now there is a lack of shelter too. \"They tethered their tents to trees. Now, trees are submerged under water and they have nothing. They need tents and they need assistance,\" says Sadeq Mohammed Zela, an IDP from Serwah region.Water must be brought in from outside and education is hard to come by. Children cram into this tiny hut. It's the only classroom in the whole camp and most of the time students can't study anyway due to an absence of teachers. Often, educators do not come due to lack of transportation to the camp.There is no safe place for children to play except amid stones and dust. And if they injure themselves running around, there's no medical services to help them. Relief organisations provide aid for the displaced in Marib province, but it was simply not enough given the huge numbers of displaced people arriving every day.\"Marib has become the last refuge of the legitimate authorities of the state, and a large number of displaced people headed to it, more than 15 thousand families from outside the province of Marib in addition to the displaced people from within the province, almost 10 thousand families,\" says relief official, Saleh Saeed.Marib, Yemen - 30 August 20161. These (people) have moved from Serwah. And they are in a bad need of shelter and drinking water... of shelter and drinking water.
