The author of children's classics including 'James and the Giant Peach' and 'Charlie And The Chocolate Factory' was born in Llandaff, near Cardiff, on 13 September. He died in November 1990.A model of a giant peach was led through the city centre and a mass wedding of Miss Ladybird and Mr. Fireman took place with guests dressed as characters from 'James and the Giant Peach'.Welsh First Minister, Carwyn Jones, gave a statement about the ongoing peach situation in the city followed by James from the Giant Peach encouraging the ladybird to go through with the marriage.Two classical singers took to the roof to serenade the bride and after the wedding, Mr Fox took to the decks and DJ'ed.
