And they just said we were too far apart. And that was concerning, because we offered to transition to the Allina insurance plan -- something they've been demanding this whole time. So it was frustrating. You know, we tried to avert the strike, but Allina walked out that morning. So we started our open-ended strike yesterday morning.\" 6. Nurses walking on strike in rain7. They were willing to give us clinical experts in training and a security guard in the emergency room. Unfortunately, staffing and the insurance continues to be an issue. What we're asking for is more resources on the floor and they're not willing to give us that. With our insurance, we came to the agreement of a transition, but they want control over it and how the benefits work and all we're asking for is to have input on those insurance plans.\" 10. In the course of these negotiations, we have got to the point where the nurses and Allina health agreed to keep the two most popular nurse-only health insurance plans until the year 2020, but now what we're stuck on is who pays for the cost increases of those plans. The Nurses Union's position has really been that they want to be insulated from any, any reasonable cost increase for insurance and that's just not realistic in today's world. Both sides are bracing for a long walkout by the Minnesota Nurses Association, which represents about 4,800 nurses at five Twin Cities-area hospitals run by Allina Health.
