STORYLINE: If you are interested in a new fridge or television this is the place for you. The IFA home appliances and electronics fair in Berlin is the largest of its kind in Europe. Over 240 000 visitors were expected to descend on the exhibition in Berlin to see products from over 1600 exhibitors.As in previous years, home appliances take up most of the space in the booths of companies like Samsung, LG and Phillips. Samsung is showcasing its new European edition of the Samsung Family Hub fridge. It comes with two doors, unlike its American cousin that has four doors. But it's what's on the doors that makes it interesting - a 21.5 inch touchscreen. The fridge can be used to control other connected devices in a home, such as a vacuum cleaning robot or the thermostat. But you can also order food on it, watch movies or stream music. \"Samsung's family hub is a Wifi enabled, internet connected device,\" says Dan Harvie, Europe Head of Samsung Home Appliances.\"And when we think about the smartphone experience, merging in to the smart home experience, that combination of those technologies and innovations gives consumers a completely different way to mange their food.\"\"Ordering online, creating shopping lists, sharing memos with their family. In the US the fridge starts at $5500 dollars, the European price will be in a similar range. Connectivity in the home is a trend that has been going for years, with companies launching many connected devices that can communicate with smartphones or other devices. But quite often consumers don't see the need for their devices to be connected, says Dinesh Kithany, Senior Principal Analyst for Home Appliances for market research company IHS.\"Just adding a connectivity feature dosen't necessarily mean that your appliance will be sold. So that has to go along with adding smartness in to the appliance, adding more intelligence in to the appliance,\" he says\"That is where the connectivity comes in. Amazon Dash has now also launched in selected European countries, including the UK and Germany. The dash buttons are simply internet connected buttons that order products directly from amazon each time they are pushed. The orders can be monitored on a smartphone. To avoid child-related over-ordering, the button will only work once every 24 hours. The signature brand is focused on the upper-levels of the home appliances market. It includes the LG Styler Home clothes steaming wardrobe, where the clothes will be steamed and dried. Also shown in Europe for the first time is the LG Signature Twin washing machine. This machine has a standard 10 kilogram washing machine on top, and a smaller 2 kilogram washing machine at the bottom. That means the consumer can wash both colours and whites at the same time.LG is also showing its LG Signature fridge. It has a mirror at the front that turns in to a window with a double knock. IFA is also the place where companies show off their latest televisions. Samsung unveiled its latest 88-inch television using the quantum dot technology. Samsung claims the quantum dot televisions are superior in colour and brightness to the LED and OLED televisions on the market. \"Today we are showcasing the future of television,\" says Michael Zoeller, Samsung Vice President of Televisions. \"And the future of television will be with quantum dot. With quantum dot we are going to see televisions which are two to three times brighter than today's. Having more colours than any televisions today.\" LG is also showing off its OLED HDR 4K signature televisions. The price for the televisions has not been set, but is likely to run in to the tens of thousands. But Amir Tamannai, editor of the GIGA technology news website, says it is just a matter of time before the technology becomes more affordable.  \"TV-wise.
