THIS TIME FROM HER HUSBAND DANA. THE PROCEDURE ITSELF HAS CHANGED SIGNIFICANTLY OVER THE DECADES.INSTEAD OF CUTTING THROUGH THE RIB CAGE AND SPLITTING MUSCLES TO GET TO THE KIDNEY... IT'S LESS INVASIVE FOR THE DONOR. At some point in the operation we do need to make an incision that's big enough to take the kidney out, which is about the size of your fist.\" THE SURGERY HAS ALSO IMPROVED FOR THE RECIPIENT. AFTER HER FIRST TRANSPLANT, HUDSON WAS HOSPITALIZED FOR A FULL MONTH.
