They're living in tents and hope to one day return to their homes. STORY-LINE: It's been a year since these children were bundled up and taken out of Mosul as it fell to the Islamic State group. Ever since, 31-year-old Saddam Hussein, his wife, and four children along with his sister and her two children, have been living in basic conditions.Their home is now Baharka camp outside the Kurdish city of Irbil. The Islamic State group took control of Mosul on the 10 June 2014, causing the exodus of thousands of families from the city. Most people fled to the northern Kurdish region of Iraq where they found shelter in various camps. But one year later, life for Hussein and his family has only become worse. They have run out of the little money he had saved. \"Before it was better than now, because I was in the military, I was working and I had an income. We were able to live and feed our families. Now, there's no salary, no job, no life. And if you have a child and he gets sick, you can't treat him,\" he says. He receives one box of food per month from the World Food Programme (WFP), including 15 kilograms of rice.Hussein left Mosul, initially leaving his family behind.But after a few days the militants took his seven-year-old son, Saqar. On the 18 June the extremists shot the boy through the chest, because his father had fled. \"I'm one of the people whose son was killed and after one year I still don't know where he was buried. Now they're taking money from people in Mosul, or they'll take you or your brother, sister or a family member.\"But living in the camp doesn't mean Hussein or his family is safe. The Islamic State group still chases him and his family members. \"Two months ago I received a phone call and they asked me: 'Are you this person?' And I said yes. Then they asked me why I didn't come to hand myself in. And I asked him who he was. Then they said: 'We are from the Islamic State.' I said I wouldn't hand myself in. Then they said: 'If you're not doing that, you have to take your brother's body from the morgue in the hospital'.\"Soon after, Hussein heard from people inside Mosul that his brother had been killed.Other people have found a way to survive inside the camp, which has a population of more than three-thousand people, mostly from Mosul and surrounding villages.  Thirty-year-old Abu Fahad runs a shop here.  \"I started this shop by borrowing 200 dollars. I got the tent, I bought the items and it's going well. I can cover my and my family's living expenses,\" he says.Although he's found a way to make a living, Fahad still misses life in Mosul. \"In Mosul I used to have a house and now I live in a tent and in Mosul I was a taxi driver working in air conditioning. Now I'm sitting in this shop. In addition to losing my friends, my lovers and dearest people. That's the difference.\"And one year after the fall of his home city, Fahad is losing hope. \"Usually I'm an optimist, but when I see the reality and the conditions we live in, I get depressed.
