The Arab Spring brought us a greater chance for political expression and artistic expression too. Because just like the people talk about politics, we talk about politics, art, the economy, sports, health, we talk about everything. This exploded in Amman. There wasn't a lot of young artists here, but now there will be a lot more and we have today ten comedy groups or so, some doing stand up, street comedy, shows on YouTube, sitcoms, sketch comedy. Various of audienceLEADIN:The Middle East's first comedy club is proving a success in the Jordanian capital Amman.Chaplin's was launched in December last year and counts royalty amongst its audience members.STORYLINE:Odai Hijazi has the audience eating out of the palm of his hand.He's performing at Chaplin's which claims to be the first - and only- comedy club in the Middle East.A string of stand-up comedians joke about daily life, politics, religion, extremism - anything that will get the packed venue laughing.Ahmad Srour is one of the funny men on stage tonight.The Jordanian comedian and actor says the club is special place for people in his line of work.\"Chaplin's was open to anyone and anything. The door is wide open for you to take the stage and perform. We've had groups, artists, young kids, elderly people. If you have the talent, get up on the stage and say so,\" he says.\"The young guys are getting together, and we are learning about each other, discovering artist after artist. All of these things are the success of this place. Indeed, this place is really holy for comedians in the Middle East,\" he adds.Srour says comedy has allowed Arabs to talk about subjects that were once dangerously taboo.\"Before 2011 and the Arab Spring there were not a lot of people who expressed themselves about the situation. This exploded in Amman,\" Srour continues.Tonight there's even a Charlie Chaplin lookalike in the audience, a homage of the famous Hollywood star the club is named after.Chaplin's hosts shows twice a week: an open mic night for anyone to try their hand at comedy as well as a scheduled show with a rotating cast of characters.Famous Egyptian comedian Bassem Youssef  is a regular host here.And royalty has visited- the Jordanian King's brother Prince Faisal attended a show during Ramadan.Open for less than a year, so far this venture seems to be a success.\"The response has really been amazing.
