Still open to visitors, Church officials are trying to organise the funding for the reconstruction of the church. STORYLINE:Looking out over the Sea of Galilee, peace and quiet reign over the Church of the Multiplication of the Loaves and Fishes (fishes means many species of fish), one of the most famous Catholic churches in the Holy Land. On June 18th,  a fire ripped through the church, damaging the roof and burning prayer books in what authorities believe was an attack by Jewish extremists.The fire caused extensive damage to the inside and outside of the building, including a souvenir shop, an office for pilgrims and a meeting room.The modern building is built on the remains of a fifth-century Byzantine church and features a Byzantine mosaic floor that was not harmed. The church marks the spot where Jesus is believed to have performed the miracle of the loaves and fishes - when Jesus is said to have shared a small portion of bread and fish with thousands of hungry people.  The spot is one of the most popular stops for Christian pilgrims visiting the Holy Land. Now they are looking into how to carry out the restoration and who will fund it. \"I believe that at the end of the day the state of Israel will be funding it because it is a clear hate crime which could be even considered to be a terrorist act,\" he says. Nassar points out that the construction work will take weeks to months to complete once it begins. The Church is still partially open to visitors and pilgrims from around the world. Today a group of bishops from the Lutheran Church are paying a solidarity visit. The group is headed by Bishop Munib Younan, President of the World Lutheran Federation who says more tolerance should be taught in schools to prevent future attacks.\"I think more important is the change in the educational system, what do they educate them in the synagogues, in the mosques in the churches, what is our curricula (plural of curriculum) ? Referring to the arson attack she feels she must apologise to the group. \"I think they should be stopped not after 58 times, but after the first time and unfortunately we failed and I want to apologise in front of you and in front of, before every Christian person I know.\"In recent years, mosques and churches have been targeted by vandals in similar attacks. They are often attributed to extremist Jews from West Bank settlements.On Sunday (13th July 2015) Israeli police arrested a number of suspects in the arson attack, but police would not elaborate on their identities.
