Cutaway of mediaSTORYLINEIran's foreign minister on Tuesday said the plight of a Washington Post journalist held in Iran for nearly a year was a judicial matter, but that he had personally intervened on humanitarian grounds.Jason Rezaian is accused of \"espionage\" and \"acting against national security,\" the semi-official Fars news agency reported last week.Foreign Minister Javad Zarif said during a visit to Madrid that he had tried to help secure family visits for Rezaian, but that he believed that it was more helpful to let the judicial process run its course.Rezaian, along with his wife, Yeganeh Salehi, and two photojournalists were detained on 22 July in Tehran. All were later released except Rezaian, who is a dual US-Iranian citizen.Iran does not recognise dual nationality.The Fars report alleged that Rezaian had obtained economic and industrial information from Iran and sold it to unnamed Americans.
