Wide of red carpetDE NIRO, ROSENTHAL ON THIS YEARS TRIBECA FILM FESTIVALThe 14th Tribeca Film Festival will open in a few weeks, and Robert De Niro and Jane Rosenthal are excited about this year's program.The festival founders spoke to AP Entertainment Thursday (2 APRIL) at the festival's new facility in lower Manhattan.\"We didn't know it would last as long as it did, and will, hopefully. We just took it one year at a time from the beginning and I'm very proud of that. We are happy,\" De Niro said.They founded the Tribeca Film Festival in 2002 in response to the 2001 attacks on The World Trade Center as a way to help revitalize Lower Manhattan which was devastated by the falling towers.\"That's the reason we started it, so it' was essential. It has evolved over the years, obviously to what it is, and it will evolve into whatever it will become later on. Things are changing so much,\" De Niro said.Rosenthal talked about the festival's growth, and the fact that the neighborhood is back to normal, at least from a construction perspective. \"We can walk anywhere downtown, now, which is the first time ever we can do that. Downtown is now open for business. We're always about celebrating the lives that were lost and the people that were - really worked to bring this city back to what it is right now, and that's part of what the festival will always celebrate,\" Rosenthal said.
