You know? So, of course I need to eat or sleep, but I believe that the puppets want to be here in Mexico, or different countries,\" says Lenart.\u003cbr/\u003eHaving taken his puppet shows around the world, Lenart says he always enjoys performing in front of audiences here in South America.\u003cbr/\u003e\"When I am here or the Latin countries, I can feel that the people have more freedom. They are don't thinking all the time on what they need to do. So, and they are very friendly and I get a lot of, lot of fantastic experiences,\" says Lenart.\u003cbr/\u003eElsewhere at the festival - which attracts around 6,000 people - Chilean puppeteers \"31 minutos\" (31 minutes) are performing to a large audience.\u003cbr/\u003eHaving risen to fame in Chile through children's television, 31 minutos' latest show is called \"Resurrecting a star\" and is designed as an amusing take on popular reality talent television programs such as \"American Idol\".\u003cbr/\u003eFestival organiser, Miguel Gutierrez, says one of the aims of this event is to show people what is now possible through puppetry.\u003cbr/\u003e\"One of the must important reasons for us to do this festival is the need of showing and promoting this art. We want the people to know the puppets, theatre and to come close. We want them to become part of this and to create a link with them,\" says Gutierrez.\u003cbr/\u003eHaving been staged seven times, Gutierrez says the festival is starting to make its mark on the city.\u003cbr/\u003e\"Little by little, we have accomplished our wish of making this festival a place of meeting. We also would love that the city and it's society adopts the festival, that is the reason for this festival to exist: that at a certain point it will become so necessary, that it will remain no matter what,\" says Gutierrez.\u003cbr/\u003eOutside, with puppeteers embracing this year's theme of street performance, another neighbourhood in Guadalajara is being treated to a puppet performance.\u003cbr/\u003eTeatro Rodante is a Mexican company from the western state of Colima. The performers are here with their original play called \"Cero aguacero\", which is about a wooden boy who learns how to responsibly use water.\u003cbr/\u003eWith the festival boasting puppet shows from four different countries, puppeteer Maria Cort�z says it's a great opportunity to share different tricks and techniques.\u003cbr/\u003e\"The importance of this festival being an international one, is that we as puppeteers can also see the work of other puppeteers from out of the country, And the people can get to know more puppeteering techniques, because the puppet's world is huge,\" says Cort�z.\u003cbr/\u003eWith the festival's aim being not only to entertain but also to preserve puppetry as an art, some visitors are beginning to become fans:\u003cbr/\u003e\"This is something we need, so the children don't spend so much time watching TV and playing games.
