Close of art work\u003cbr/\u003eThe director of the erotic film which made a star of Dutch actress Sylvia Kristel spoke on Thursday of his sorrow at hearing of her death.\u003cbr/\u003e\"Emmanuelle\" director Just Jaeckin said he thought of Kristel as a little sister, but was not surprised to hear of her passing as she had been ill for some time.\u003cbr/\u003eKristel, who died aged 60 from cancer, made her breakthrough in \"Emmanuelle\" , the provocative tale of the sexual adventures of a man and his beautiful young wife in Thailand.\u003cbr/\u003eJaeckin, who is also a sculptor and has a gallery in Paris, said he and Kristel maintained contact, calling each other every three to four months, but said he had not spoken with her since February.\u003cbr/\u003eHe said the initial response to the film had been a \"nightmare\" which marked them both, but they went on to have \"40 years of success\" thanks to the film.\u003cbr/\u003e\"It was so strong. Lawrence's novel \"Lady Chatterley's Lover\" and \"Mata Hari,\" four years later.\u003cbr/\u003eShe was honoured in 2006 with a special jury prize at the Tribeca Film Festival for a short animated
