Wide of Holy Sepulcher courtyard\u003cbr/\u003eChristian pilgrims from around the world filled the narrow streets of Jerusalem's Old City on Good Friday, as they followed the route Jesus Christ is said to have taken on the way to his crucifixion.\u003cbr/\u003ePilgrims from throughout the world including the United States, India, South Korea, the Philippines and Russia walked side-by-side in a procession along the narrow streets,  carrying large wooden crosses, holding candles and chanting prayers.\u003cbr/\u003eThe procession took place amid tight Israeli security control.\u003cbr/\u003eLatin Patriarch Michel Sabbah said the day should inspire all sides in the Middle East conflict to take a step towards achieving peace.\u003cbr/\u003e\"What's happening now in our land, holy land here, is killing each other. Sepulcher, where many believe Jesus was buried. \u003cbr/\u003eThe calendars of five major Christian sects coincide this year, a convergence that only happens once every four years.\u003cbr/\u003eCrowds were therefore predicted to be larger than usual.\u003cbr/\u003eAn Israeli police spokesperson said hundreds of police were deployed around the Old City to maintain order.\u003cbr/\u003eThere are 14 stations along the route, known as the Via Dolorosa, or Way of Sorrows, each marking an event that befell Jesus on his final walk. \u003cbr/\u003eThe final five stations are inside the Church of the Holy Sepulcher, where many Christians believe Jesus was stripped, crucified, and finally laid to rest before being resurrected on Easter
