It was characterised as a wreckless assault, which is different from an intentional assault. I believe you have a copy of the allocution that she made in front of the judge, where she said that in her apartment she threw a phone and that that phone that she threw did hit an employee of hers but that it was not intentional, it was an accident and that she was very sorry about it. She was advised that the individual had been hurt, albeit not seriously, because part of the sentence was restitution in the amount of 363 (US) dollars, which is what the cost of putting a band-aid on her head was. Wide shot media around lawyer\u003cbr/\u003eBritish supermodel Naomi Campbell pleaded guilty to misdemeanour assault today (January 16) for hitting her maid with a mobile phone over a pair of missing jeans.\u003cbr/\u003eCampbell, appearing before Manhattan Criminal Court Judge Robert Mandelbaum, admitted she had thrown a mobile phone in her apartment and that the phone had hit Ana Scolavino but she insisted it was an accident because she did not intend to hit her personal assistant.\u003cbr/\u003eIf convicted at trial, Campbell, who originally had been charged with second-degree felony assault, could have been sentenced from two to seven years in prison.\u003cbr/\u003e36-year-old Campbell hit Scovalino in the back of the head with the phone in the supermodel's Manhattan apartment last March. Scolavino was treated for a head injury.\u003cbr/\u003eIn exchange for her guilty plea, Campbell must pay Scolavino's medical expenses of 363 US dollars, do five days of community service, and attend a two-day anger management programme.\u003cbr/\u003eOutside the courthouse, Campbell's lawyer, David Breitbart, said the incident was \"an accident\" and that the model was \"very sorry\" about what had happened. \u003cbr/\u003eHe said he did not believe Campbell had \"a serious anger management problem.\"\u003cbr/\u003eCampbell has a history of problems with her employees dating back to 2000.
