Zoom out of orphans watching the lion dance\u003cbr/\u003eVietnamese orphans who had not seen their country in three decades returned to Ho Chi Minh City on Wednesday to commemorate the 30th anniversary of \"Operation Babylift\" in which thousands of Vietnamese children were flown to the US at the end of the Vietnam War.\u003cbr/\u003eThe 21 orphans who returned to Vietnam were a part of a series of mercy missions that eventually brought four thousand Vietnamese children to adoptive homes in the United States. \u003cbr/\u003eThough many of the orphans have previously returned to Vietnam, the trip - organised by Atlanta-based World Airways, which conducted the original April 2, 1975 flight - was especially poignant for gathering so many of the original passengers along with several members of the original flight crew. \u003cbr/\u003eWorld Airways flew the orphans to Ho Chi Minh City, formerly called Saigon, on an aircraft specially painted with the red and white design and logo the company used in the 1970s. \u003cbr/\u003eThe orphans were greeted at the airport by officials, children and the performance of a lion dance.\u003cbr/\u003eTanya Dilbeck Bakal, a Vietnamese orphan from Georgia, said she was feeling \"lots of emotions, joy, sad, happy, many different feelings.\"\u003cbr/\u003eAs Saigon was being captured by communist forces in early April 1975, a World Airways flight took off under cover of night with 57 children - mostly babies, all orphaned or given up by their parents - on board. \u003cbr/\u003eThousands more children followed in the next few weeks.\u003cbr/\u003eNot all the children survived the trip.
