And now I've got it here I think it will be a  winner.\"\u003cbr/\u003eSUPER CAPTION: Walter Shortt, Race Organiser\u003cbr/\u003eThe winners' names - some of them puns on the names of well-known jockeys like  Lester Piggott -  were written up on a betting board, and continued success will no  doubt keep them from becoming bacon sandwiches or pork sausages - both favourite  Irish dishes.\u003cbr/\u003eSome pigs appear to be naturally better hurdlers than others.\u003cbr/\u003eSOUNDBITE: (English)\u003cbr/\u003e\"Well its quite interesting. You can pick them as little pigs, ones with a bit of speed,  they need a little bit of Dourg (pig breed) blood in them. A  bit of Large White (a breed)  and a wee bit of Landrace (breed). Too much Landrace, too much lop-ears, long ears  doesn't work well. We have some here with long ears they'll not run as well.\"\u003cbr/\u003eSUPER CAPTION: Walter Shortt, Race Organiser\u003cbr/\u003eDue to criticism from animal rights groups the local Ulster Society for the Prevention of  Cruelty to Animals sent an inspector to monitor the race.\u003cbr/\u003eBut he was happy that the pigs appeared quite at home on the racetrack.\u003cbr/\u003eAn extra incentive for these pedigree porkers was running to the theme tune from the  film Rocky.\u003cbr/\u003eSOUNDBITE: (English)\u003cbr/\u003e\"Well obviously they have been trained to react to music, yeah.
