Various of protest \u003cbr/\u003eThe top military leaders from the US and South Korea began talks on Wednesday about the Korean peninsula's security worries following a deadly North Korean artillery strike last month.\u003cbr/\u003eAdmiral Mike Mullen, Chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff, flew to Seoul on Wednesday to meet his counterpart, General Han Min-koo, and give reassurances of the US commitment to South Korea's defence. \u003cbr/\u003eFollowing the meeting, Mullen said that the US commitment to helping South Korea defend itself from North Korean aggression is \"unquestioned.\"\u003cbr/\u003eMullen also warned that North Korea should not mistake South Korean restraint as a lack of resolve. \u003cbr/\u003eHe vowed to hold more joint drills with South Korea to deter any North Korean aggression\u003cbr/\u003eSouth Korea and the United States staged drills last week off the west coast of the peninsula in response to North Korea's November 23 artillery barrage on a South Korean island near the Koreas' disputed sea border.\u003cbr/\u003eNorth Korea has blamed South Korean military drills conducted on Yeonpyeong on November 23 for its artillery fire.\u003cbr/\u003eThe visit follows a gathering of top diplomats from the US, Japan and South Korea earlier this week in Washington in a show of unity.     \u003cbr/\u003eThe South Korean Government said on Wednesday that following what it called \"continuous provocations\" by Pyongyang it will be rethinking its attitude towards the North.\u003cbr/\u003e\"We will synthetically analyse all these situations and continuously look over our government's direction of South-North relationship administration and policies related to North Korea,\" said a spokeswoman for the South Korean Unification Ministry.\u003cbr/\u003eThe attack on Yeonpyeong - a tiny enclave of military bases and fishing communities along the Koreas' disputed western sea border - killed two South Korean Marines and two civilians, and reduced many homes and shops to charred rubble.\u003cbr/\u003eThe incident marked a new level of hostility along the contested maritime border between the countries.\u003cbr/\u003eMeanwhile, several groups of protesters staged rallies across Seoul to denounce North's attack on the South Korean territory and some criticised their government's military and financial policies.\u003cbr/\u003eAbout 150 anti-North Korea activists gathered in front of the US embassy in Seoul to protest against North Korea's recent attack. \u003cbr/\u003eThe activists burned North Korean flag and photos of North Korean leader Kim Jong Il and his son and apparent heir Kim Jong Un. \u003cbr/\u003eSome activists shaved their heads to show their anger following the recent attack.\u003cbr/\u003ePolice were dispatched to the protesting site and stopped the activists from burning signs and North Korean flags. \u003cbr/\u003eMeanwhile, South Korean peace activists gathered in front of the South Korean Defence Ministry on Wednesday afternoon in Seoul to hold a rally denouncing the South Korea-US military alliance. \u003cbr/\u003eAbout ten activists chanted slogans and held signs and insisted on the South Korean government to stop military cooperation with the US which increases the tension in the Korean Peninsula, according to activists. \u003cbr/\u003eThey requested the government to start holding dialogue with North Korea rather than isolating it from the international society.\u003cbr/\u003eElsewhere in the capital, a group of South Korean farmers staged a rally, opposing the US and the South Korea Free Trade Agreement (FTA). \u003cbr/\u003eAbout 2,500 South Korean farmers from various nationwide farmers associations and organisations gathered holding signs and chanted slogans asking for the South Korean government to solve the issue of decreased rice price and insisted on stopping the South Korea-US FTA.\u003cbr/\u003ePolice have dispatched its forces to the scene to prepare for any possible clashes with the farmers\u003cbr/\u003eSouth Korea and US representatives have recently reached a final agreement after days of negotiations focusing on US demands that South Korea rework the accord to address its big trade surplus in automobiles.\u003cbr/\u003eThe South Korea-US free trade agreement was originally signed in June 2007, but steps to ratify it stalled amid changes in government in both countries, the global financial crisis and American demands that South Korea take steps to reduce their imbalance in auto trade and ease restrictions on imports of American beef.\u003cbr/\u003eSouth Korea, which long said it would not budge on the initial deal, ultimately has compromised and addressed key US concerns on cars, though it\u003cbr/\u003ealso received benefits in return such as a two-year delay in the elimination of its tariffs on American pork. Beef was not included in the deal.\u003cbr/\u003eThe pact, which requires approval by the US Congress and South Korea's National Assembly, is the largest for the US since the North American Free Trade
