This is not a long term solution,\" she said. \u003cbr/\u003eBut one of the chief engineers for the project said that the construction of the dam will prevent flooding in the lower plains. Wang Xiaomao said it will also provide electricity for China's energy-hungry industrial East.  \u003cbr/\u003eHe said that the environmental concerns had been considered.\u003cbr/\u003e\"In general, we have paid attention to these kind of (environmental) problems and the government has taken various measures. feet.\u003cbr/\u003eThe reservoir provides drinking water for (m) millions of people, but as it covers what used to be cities, towns and factories, it is becoming contaminated by many different kinds
