packed with explosives - was then detonated by the retreating guerrillas.\u003cbr/\u003eThe Hezbollah have claimed responsibility.\u003cbr/\u003eThe Iranian-backed guerrilla group is waging a campaign to end the Israeli occupation.\u003cbr/\u003eThey gave no further details about the attack.\u003cbr/\u003eThe explosion brought down fortifications and the dead were buried under the rubble. \u003cbr/\u003eThe outpost is one of several crossing points linking the Israeli-occupied zone with the rest of the country. \u003cbr/\u003eIsrael created a so-called security zone in the occupied area in 1985 to shield its northern territory from cross-border guerrilla incursions. \u003cbr/\u003eIts 1,500 troops there are helped by the South Lebanon Army, a 2,500-member militia paid and armed by Israel.\u003cbr/\u003eBut amid public anger at home over the mounting casualties among its troops in southern Lebanon, Israel has decided to withdraw.\u003cbr/\u003eSeven Israeli soldiers and 15 SLA militiamen have been killed this year in south Lebanon. \u003cbr/\u003eThe Israeli plan has fuelled uncertainty about border security. \u003cbr/\u003eIsrael is concerned guerrillas will move their attacks closer. \u003cbr/\u003eMeanwhile, the Lebanese government has said that it won't grant any future security guarantees to Israel in the absence of a peace agreement. This despite U-N peacekeepers being deployed at the border.\u003cbr/\u003eThe United Nations is considering plans to strengthen or modify its 4,500-strong peacekeeping force in parts of southern Lebanon.\u003cbr/\u003eA future role for the force is being discussed by Secretary-General Kofi Annan's special envoy, Terje Roed-Larsen, who began his regional tour in Israel on Thursday. \u003cbr/\u003eHe is scheduled to visit Beirut next week.\u003cbr/\u003eNorthern Israel - 28 April 2000)\u003cbr/\u003e1.
