difficult to spot in a dish and the effects of an adverse reaction can be serious.\u003cbr/\u003eBut relief could be on the way courtesy of research being conducted in Israel.\u003cbr/\u003eSesame seeds are present in many popular Middle Eastern dishes, such as hummus or tahini.\u003cbr/\u003eWhich can make eating out difficult for people who suffer allergies to them.\u003cbr/\u003eThe problem has been the focus of a study by researchers at Israel's leading technical institute.\u003cbr/\u003eScientists there say have found a way to neutralise a sesame seed protein that causes the allergic reaction.\u003cbr/\u003eAlthough the scientists focused on sesame, they say the technology could be used to deactivate allergens in milk and other common foods, like peanuts.\u003cbr/\u003eThe breakthrough could bring benefits to millions of people around the world.\u003cbr/\u003eIn the United States alone more than 11 (m) million people suffer from food allergies.\u003cbr/\u003eSOUNDBITE:
