This went on for nine months until a day of reckoning she remembers as one of the most important of her young life.
She was preparing to go to school for a test, but her father came home early and questioned where she was going.
When he discovered she had been secretly going to school he was livid and slapped her cheek.
A showdown ensued between her parents with her father beating her mother and her mother defiantly telling Bachal to go to school.
Bachal is clearly proud of her mother's bravery.
She says: "When I saw this problem in my own house when my father is against for my education and he is every time fighting with my mother and he is not happy why we are going to school. So my mother, she is doing a big struggle for our education. Like she is facing domestic violence for our education. But she is still resisting and still standing and she is still talking to my father and my father's family (saying) so 'I want to educate my girls, I want to educate my girls'".
Eventually her father agreed to let her continue her education as long as she married whoever he chose.
She has yet to get married, but she has certainly pursued her studies.
At only 13, Bachal started sharing what she'd learned with a group of about ten of her girlfriends in a makeshift classroom in her house.
The school grew until eventually it was so large that with the help of a community organisation the then 15-year-old Bachal moved the school into a rented building.
But she faced fierce local opposition.
The owner of the building she was renting tried to lock them out once, and they instead held classes in the street in front of the building until he relented.
Community elders asked her family to move, saying they weren't a good influence on the neighbourhood.
To encourage families to send their children to school, she would lobby the families and try to change their minds.
Nobody really knew what to make of this teenager walking from house to house, sitting down with the men of the area and hammering away at their opposition.
Sixteen year old Uzma Tayyab Ali says Bachal's determination has transformed her future:
"Earlier I was studying in another private school.
