Tracking shot of students dancing\u003cbr/\u003eEngineering students are not normally known for their dance moves. \u003cbr/\u003eBut now a university in the US state of Illinois is aiming to change all that.\u003cbr/\u003eIt is offering academics some action on the dance floor so they can learn new skills and break out of their comfort zone. \u003cbr/\u003eFor most engineering students, the prospect of having to strut their stuff would probably send them in any direction but the dance floor.\u003cbr/\u003eHere though, at Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois, the mood music is changing.\u003cbr/\u003eStudents are taking part in dance classes called \"Whole Body Thinking.\"\u003cbr/\u003eAnd some have become absorbed, getting into the swing of swing. \u003cbr/\u003eJoe Holtgreive, an assistant dean at the McCormick School of Engineering, started the class to help future engineers broaden their horizons. \u003cbr/\u003eHe says the course, led by Northwestern University Professor of Dance Billy Siegenfeld, is teaching students known for left-brain thinking to use more of the right side of their brains.\u003cbr/\u003e\"It's just one way that they can get outside of their comfort zone, get outside of that left brain and engage in a really fun, creative, collaborative activity,\" says Holtgreive. \u003cbr/\u003eBut he admits it took a little while to convince his bosses that dancing was the way forward.\u003cbr/\u003e\"I think there were moments, probably, when the Dean was kind of wondering 'is this really what we should be doing?'
