Doctor Pelucci dressed as a clown, facing patient who is also dressed as a clown \u003cbr/\u003eAn Argentinean doctor along with a group of medical students, psychologists and actors believe that laughter is the best medicine.\u003cbr/\u003eDoctor Jose Pelucchi works in the intensive care unit at Udaondo Hospital in Buenos Aires. \u003cbr/\u003eFor well over a year, he has been surprising patients there, by changing out of his white coat and donning a red nose. \u003cbr/\u003eInspired by the famous US doctor Patch Adams and his innovative 'laughter therapy', Doctor Pelucchi started prescribing laughter in order to  speed up patients' recovery.\u003cbr/\u003eDoctor Pelucchi is co-founder of a group of 20 calling themselves 'Clown Doctors'. \u003cbr/\u003eThe clowns currently work the wards of two different hospitals in Buenos Aires, spreading laughter and smiles, hoping to help patients recover more quickly. \u003cbr/\u003eOne of their tricks is to use a small doll, which they call a 'Voodoo Clown'. When patients move the limbs of the doll, the real clowns also jump about.  \u003cbr/\u003eDoctor Pelucchi explains that this is to encourage patients to become involved in the clowns' antics. \u003cbr/\u003eLaughter therapy has not been a complete revelation to Doctor Pelucchi. \u003cbr/\u003eNine years ago the doctor started taking acting classes and used to rehearse his parts in front of patients to entertain them.  \u003cbr/\u003eHe decided to take this a stage further after learning about Hunter 'Patch' Adams, who developed laughter therapy over 35 years at the Gesundheit Institute in Virginia, USA. \u003cbr/\u003ePelucchi went on to train other doctors and actors to perform for patients. He explains that the beneficial effects to a patient of clowning is backed up by strong scientific theory.\u003cbr/\u003eWhen people laugh they release endorphins which help boost people's immune
