It is a high quality wine, which should be specially well drunk in combination with food. It is a rebellish, a rebellion wine when you drink it by itself. wine has gained fame locally and has become highly prized. \u003cbr/\u003eThere has been a Christian monastery in the Trebinje valley in southern Bosnia since the 4th century. \u003cbr/\u003eHere the eleven monks devote themselves to the service of God, with their respected wine. \u003cbr/\u003eHead monk, Sava Miric, tells the history of the Tvrdos monastic settlement, confirming that recent archaeological finds prove that the monastery existed in Byzantine times. \u003cbr/\u003eThe Byzantine era began with the foundation of the eastern Roman Empire in the fourth century, to the fall of the Empire's capital to the Ottoman Turks in 1453. \u003cbr/\u003eThe monastery's own history has been turbulent, and it was burnt to the ground on several occasions.\u003cbr/\u003eIt was rebuilt by donations from Orthodox Serbs in the United States in late 18th century.\u003cbr/\u003eIn the sunny vineyards of southern Bosnia, close to the Croatian tourist resort of Dubrovnik, traditionally dressed nuns pick the grapes that will be turned into wine by the Tvrdos monks. \u003cbr/\u003eThe monastery owns some 40 acres of vineyards and produces some 100, 000 bottles of wine per year. \u003cbr/\u003eThe cellar is contains oak wine barrels that are more than 100 years old in the wine matures for two years before it is ready to sell. \u003cbr/\u003eThe monks have been making wine here for several centuries and Sava Miric says that wine making brings them closer to God. \u003cbr/\u003eWine plays a central part in the Christian rite, particularly of transubstantion in which Catholics and Orthodox Christians believe that bread and wine become the body and blood of Jesus Christ through the prayers of a priest. \u003cbr/\u003eThe wine is prized by Bosnian wine lovers, but is very difficult to come by. \u003cbr/\u003eMany people make the long trip to Tvrdos monastery just to purchase a bottle from the monastery shop, which costs 36 Euros ($51 US Dollars). \u003cbr/\u003eBarbara Pribozic-Leka is a certified Slovenian sommelier (wine taster). \u003cbr/\u003eAfter tasting the wine in Sarajevo, she said it is very good quality and would be best drunk with
