Various of people and tents\u003cbr/\u003eTurkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan urged a small delegation of protesters on Friday to persuade hundreds of others occupying an Istanbul park to withdraw.\u003cbr/\u003eTurkish activists leading a sit-in were considering a promise by Erdogan to let the courts and a potential referendum decide the fate of the much-despised Gezi Park redevelopment project - a plan that has sparked Turkey's biggest protests in decades. \u003cbr/\u003eThe pledge was made during last-ditch negotiations which ran into the early hours of Friday morning after Erdogan had issued what he called a \"final warning\" to protesters.\u003cbr/\u003eAddressing members of his Justice and Development Party (AKP) on Friday, Erdogan called on protesters to leave Gezi Park.\u003cbr/\u003e\"We say to our youngsters, please leave Gezi Park now, go home, if there are any of those illegal organisations there after that, let us deal with them; because Gezi Park does not belong to those illegal organisations and those occupying organisations,\" he said.\u003cbr/\u003eHe said that the Taksim Solidarity group, who are occupying the park, \"we are asking them to show determination and support now, to speak to our youngsters, to let them take this step and don't make us use different methods\". \u003cbr/\u003eIn Gezi Park itself on Friday hundreds of demonstrators gathered together before retreating into groups to hold a forum to determine what steps that will be taken to overcome the continuing tension between the government and protesters. \u003cbr/\u003eThe Taksim Solidarity group, two of whose members were in the meeting with Erdogan, has emerged as the most high-profile from the occupation that began last month. \u003cbr/\u003eBut it does not speak for all of the hundreds camping in the park, many of whom claim no affiliation to any group.\u003cbr/\u003eTayfun Kahraman, one of the Taksim Solidarity members who attended the meeting with Erdogan, told those gathered: \"We have submitted the demands we have been reiterating for 18 days personally to the prime minister. We had a heated debate over these demands.\"\u003cbr/\u003eAnother, unidentified, leader of the group said \"We will decide together. We'll find out together which way everyone is leaning, and will decide for ourselves.\"\u003cbr/\u003eParticipants were then told to split up into smaller discussion groups in the hope that a common solution could be found.\u003cbr/\u003eOne demonstrator compared the protest movement to a tree saying: \"There's a civil resistance, and it has its branches. And they insist equally on every branch. So they form a tree in my mindset. But some of the requests (demands) are not supported by everyone.\" \u003cbr/\u003eThe two-week standoff has damaged Erdogan's international reputation and led to repeated interventions by riot police. \u003cbr/\u003eAfter initially inflaming tensions by dubbing the protesters \"terrorists,\" the prime minister has moderated his stance in closed-door talks in the last few days.\u003cbr/\u003eEarlier on Friday, Erdogan's ruling party announced the government would suspend its plan to cut down trees in Gezi Park and install a replica Ottoman barracks until the courts could rule on its legality. \u003cbr/\u003eAnd even if the courts sided with the government, a city referendum would be held to determine the plan's fate, officials said.\u003cbr/\u003eIt remained far from clear, however, whether the overtures would work.\u003cbr/\u003eErdogan has pledged to end the two-week protest, but has also urged his supporters to rally in Ankara and Istanbul this weekend. \u003cbr/\u003eThose demonstrations could raise tension between his conservative, Islamic base and the people occupying the park who are mostly, but not all, liberal and
