And there were a lot of rumours about the transit centre , the registration centre that people were being killed and losing all their belongings, that it was a military operation namely a Rwandan military operation and not an operation by UNHCR.\u003cbr/\u003eSUPER CAPTION: UNHCR worker Jessica Gorre-Borja \u003cbr/\u003eShe says that since the rumours have been dispelled, many people had voluntarily repatriated.\u003cbr/\u003eA U-N  refugee agency spokesman, insists all departures are voluntary since the agency's mandate does not allow the use of force. \u003cbr/\u003eBut some refugees disagree.\u003cbr/\u003eThey say they are not being forced to leave the camp right now, but will have to go eventually because the camps will be closed.  \u003cbr/\u003eIn light of their fears,  the refugees set up a blockade in the other part of the camp.\u003cbr/\u003eSoldiers were sent in to break it up.\u003cbr/\u003eThe crowd became violent and began throwing stones.\u003cbr/\u003eDuring the night soldiers fired assault rifles into the air to intimidate the refugees into going home.\u003cbr/\u003eBurundian troops also shot three refugees when they tried to cross into the closed section of the camp.\u003cbr/\u003eOne body was left in the sun as a warning.\u003cbr/\u003eAs a result of the violence, Hutu refugees have been boarding U-N trucks homeward bound.\u003cbr/\u003eDespite the genocide in Rwanda , the recent political instability in Burundi makes it look like it is now safer for refugees in Rwanda than Burundi.\u003cbr/\u003eMagara refugee camp in Burundi August 16th and 19th August 1996 \u003cbr/\u003e19th August \u003cbr/\u003e1.
