an eye-catching composition by Damien Hirst, featuring his trademark butterflies\u003cbr/\u003eIt's expected to fetch between one and 1.5 million US dollars when it goes under the hammer at Sotheby's auction house in Doha this October.\u003cbr/\u003eRight now, however, it's on display at Sotheby's London headquarters, as part of a travelling show called \"Contemporary Art / Doha\".\u003cbr/\u003eAs well as artists such as Hirst, Tracey Emin and Anish Kapoor, the exhibition features works by leading Middle Eastern artists like Ayman Baakbaki and Ali Banisadr.\u003cbr/\u003eLina Lazaar Jameel is an international specialist in contemporary art at Sotheby's.\u003cbr/\u003eShe says that when it came to selecting works for the exhibition, national boundaries weren't especially significant.\u003cbr/\u003eInstead, she says, it was \"very much about creating interesting parallels and dialogues between the works themselves rather than countries or nationalities or styles\".\u003cbr/\u003eJameel also says that many of the Middle Eastern artists have \"re-engaged profoundly with their historical roots\" and re-appropriated traditional media \"to come up with something much more interesting, completely challenged and fresh\".\u003cbr/\u003eThe \"Contemporary Art / Doha\" exhibition has already been shown in Jeddah and Dubai.\u003cbr/\u003eAfter leaving London, it will head to New York before arriving at Sotheby's in Doha for the auction on 13 October.\u003cbr/\u003eEdward Gibbs is the chairman of Sotheby's Middle East and India department.\u003cbr/\u003eHe says that in the last five years the auction house had seen a greater than 50 percent rise in transactions from Middle Eastern buyers.\u003cbr/\u003e\"And that's across all categories, not just Middle Eastern contemporary art and Islamic, but also Impressionists, jewellery, watches, furniture and decorative arts, all the painting departments,\" he says.\u003cbr/\u003eThe month-long exhibition opens in London today ( 22 July) and is free to visit.\u003cbr/\u003eLondon -
