Annette Sorenson attended a New York court to hear the city's Administration for  Children's...\u003c/span\u003e\n\u003cspan class='full-description hide'\u003eEnglish/Nat\u003cbr/\u003eThe Danish woman who ran into a legal storm when she left her baby outside a  restaurant is finally free of the American courts. \u003cbr/\u003eAnnette Sorenson attended a New York court to hear the city's Administration for  Children's Services give up its claim for custody of her child.\u003cbr/\u003eSorenson and her child's father, Exavier Wardlaw, were arrested nearly two weeks ago  after leaving their 14-month-old daughter outside a New York City restaurant while they  had dinner inside.\u003cbr/\u003eThey're expected to return to Denmark next week.\u003cbr/\u003eThe case that has reverberated in both Europe and America ended here at New York  City's Family Court with no surprises.\u003cbr/\u003eAfter being cleared of all criminal charges last week, Annette Sorenson was compelled  to show up here and resolve the remaining charge of neglect before she could head  back to Denmark.\u003cbr/\u003eAt the brief hearing, the city's child welfare agency agreed to drop its claim for custody  of the Danish child as long as Sorenson goes back to Denmark as scheduled on May  17th.\u003cbr/\u003eThe Judge ordered Sorenson's passport be returned immediately, and ruled that Exavier  Wardlaw (the father) be permitted to visit his child under the supervision of a social  worker.\u003cbr/\u003eSorenson was mostly silent during the hearing, and managed to evade the press after  the proceedings.\u003cbr/\u003eWhile her ordeal is over, Exavier Wardlaw still faces criminal charges for endangerment  and disorderly conduct.\u003cbr/\u003eWardlaw showed up with his attorney for an impromptu press conference... but declined  to speak for himself.\u003cbr/\u003eSOUNDBITE: (English)\u003cbr/\u003e\\\"Good afternoon, one sad and utterly unnecessary chapter in the life of New York City  has now come to a close. Thankfully the A-C-S (Administration for Children Services)   decided to withdraw this ill founded and ill considered petition and focus on the very real  issue of child abuse and child neglect in New York City. Unfortunately, Exavier Wardlaw  still faces criminal charges growing out of the police attack on him and on his child and  on his friend on second avenue. Those charges will be heard on June fourth. The new  motto in the city of New York for the tourism industry should probably be we came here  on vacation, we left on probation.
