They should be very careful not to create an even more complicated situation on the Korean peninsula. missile.\u003cbr/\u003eAnnan, who was in Paris to attend the inauguration of a new museum, also called for all parties in the standoff to avoid an escalation of tensions.\u003cbr/\u003eSpeaking to reporters outside Matignon Palace after talks with French Prime Minister Dominique De Villepin the Secretary-General said he hoped \"the North Korean leaders will hear and listen to what the whole world is saying: we are all worried\".\u003cbr/\u003e\"They should be very careful not to create an even more complicated situation on the Korean peninsula,\" Annan added. \"We must be very careful\u003cbr/\u003enot to escalate this sort of drama, especially in such a sensitive region.\"\u003cbr/\u003eDe Villepin said that France shared the Secretary-General's concerns. \u003cbr/\u003eHe said any North Korean missile test must draw a \"firm and just\" international response.\u003cbr/\u003eThe missile in question is believed to be a Taepodong-2 with a firing range that experts estimate could be up to 15-thousand kilometres (9,300 miles).\u003cbr/\u003eThe United States and Japan have already said they could consider sanctions against the impoverished state and push the UN Security Council for\u003cbr/\u003eretaliatory action should the launch go ahead. \u003cbr/\u003ePyongyang demonstrated its ability to hit Tokyo when it fired a missile over northern Japan into the Pacific in
