Wide shot of camp\u003cbr/\u003eAn Indian-Nepalese army team reached the peak of Everest on Thursday, following the route of the original Everest conquerors- Ed Hillary and Sherpa Tenzing .\u003cbr/\u003ePrevious attempts by the Nepalese side have been thwarted by ongoing bad weather on the mountain.\u003cbr/\u003eIn all, three Indian army soldiers, four from the Nepalese Royal Army and seven sherpas grabbed the chance to push up to the summit after there was a break in bad weather that had whipped the mountain with winds up to 80\u003cbr/\u003ekilometers an hour (50 mph).\u003cbr/\u003eOther successful teams that reached the top on Thursday, included the Irish and Japanese teams.  \u003cbr/\u003eThe Japanese team believe weather conditions will deteriorate on Friday and that there will not be another opportunity to reach the summit.\u003cbr/\u003eAlso successful was a team of Irish climbers. \u003cbr/\u003eMick Murphy and Gerard McDonnell became the first Irish team to reach the summit from the southern side of the mountain - hoisting the Irish tricolour a week before the 50th anniversary of the first successful climb.\u003cbr/\u003eThe team's technical leader, John Joyce, said they were elated when the news came in. \u003cbr/\u003eThe Irish climbers were among of a number of teams attempting the challenge to  mark the 50th anniversary of the achievement of Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay.\u003cbr/\u003eMore than 1,200 climbers have reached the summit in the last 50 years and at least 175 have died
