crisis his government has linked to global climate change.\u003cbr/\u003eFlooding across Bolivia's eastern lowlands has killed 50 people and affected some 43,000 families, according to Bolivian officials. \u003cbr/\u003eHeavy rains have pushed floodwaters within centimetres (inches) of topping a raised highway protecting the eastern provincial capital of Trinidad, where Morales met on Monday with local officials.\u003cbr/\u003eAccording to local officials, 80 percent of the eastern department of Beni has been flooded.\u003cbr/\u003eMorales, who on Monday viewed the flooding from a military helicopter, called the situation \"grave\" and said workers would start digging ditches to try to prevent further flooding to Trinidad.\u003cbr/\u003eTrinidad, a city of 90-thousand, was surrounded by muddy water on Monday.\u003cbr/\u003eA rainy season aggravated by La Nina - a periodic cooling of waters in the Pacific Ocean - has hit hard all across the country.\u003cbr/\u003eSome scientists believe that global warming has raised ocean temperatures and increased evaporation, boosting the amount of moisture in the air and making La Nina storms more intense.\u003cbr/\u003eMorales last year vowed to seek legal remedies if rich countries did not agree to pay for the environmental damage they have wreaked on the developing world.\u003cbr/\u003eMorales on Monday thanked Argentina, Brazil, Chile and the United States for their aid donations and thanked the Cuban medical missions working in the most affected areas.\u003cbr/\u003eTo help Bolivia recover from this year's floods,
