in the Swat Valley that has since faltered.\u003cbr/\u003eMuhammad, father-in-law of Swat Taliban leader Maulana (religious title, \"our master\" in Arabic) Fazlullah, negotiated a truce with the government in February that imposed Shariah, or Islamic, law in the valley in exchange for an end to two years of fighting. \u003cbr/\u003eBut it was widely seen as an acquiescence to Taliban control of the area.\u003cbr/\u003eThe deal collapsed in April when the Taliban advanced into neighbouring districts, triggering a military offensive that prompted a spree of retaliatory attacks by militants 2002 but was freed last year after he renounced violence.\u003cbr/\u003eMuhammad himself was not in control of armed militants in Swat, and the Taliban's ability to bounce back after the recent military offensive against them will depend more on their leaders, including the cleric's son-in-law. \u003cbr/\u003eDespite occasional rumours to the contrary, none have been captured or known to have been killed.\u003cbr/\u003eBut his arrest could be an indication that the government will no longer negotiate with the Taliban - a position likely to please the US which is looking for signs who was elected to parliament's lower house in 2002, is believed to have plotted the geologist's abduction.\u003cbr/\u003eStanczak's beheading - which was shown in a video that surfaced in February - admitted to being involved in the beheading before an anti-terrorism court in Rawalpindi.\u003cbr/\u003eThe two are to appear in court on Monday, when police will seek to have their custody order
