Abkhazia.\u003cbr/\u003eAbkhazia and South Ossetia - which split off in a separatist war in the 1990s - have become a focus of Russia's efforts to thwart pro-Western Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili's drive to take his country into NATO.\u003cbr/\u003eEka Tkeshelashvili, speaking at a news briefing in the Georgian capital Tibilisi, said that only the Russian Federation stands to gain from any escalation of the situation in Abkhazia.\u003cbr/\u003eShe said there \"was no pragmatic interest for the Georgian side to aggravate (the) situation\", and that Russia \"wishes to make every accusations that they are fomenting tensions.\u003cbr/\u003eThe US State Department said on Monday that Abkhazia \"urgently\" needs an international police presence in areas where recent bombings killed four people and wounded five. \u003cbr/\u003eIt also called on Abkhazia to resume peace talks with Georgia.\u003cbr/\u003eRussia, meanwhile, proposed a resolution at the UN Security Council in
