They don't represent the overwhelmingly positive behaviour of the men and women in uniform, doing such a wonderful job. It's always disappointing when there are charges like that. It is particularly disappointing when they are true, and that needs to be determined. One hates to see the adverse affect of it, if it is true. You also recognise the damage that could be done by the allegations alone if they are not true or if there is some explanation of some sort. But that is the world we live in. My hope is that the commands responsible for their troops will find ways to accelerate the process that they have to go through, ++indistinct word++ providing for the rights of people who may or may not be accused of this, but to accelerate it.\"\u003cbr/\u003e6. Wide shot of press conference on plane\u003cbr/\u003eUS Defence Secretary Donald Rumsfeld said he was \"disappointed\" by allegations that US soldiers burned the remains of Taliban fighters in Afghanistan and then used the scene as propaganda.\u003cbr/\u003eRumsfeld says American military commanders were going \"to energetically pursue an investigation\" into the charges. And he said he hoped they would be able to quickly determine the facts.\u003cbr/\u003eThe Muslim world already has expressed its outrage. \u003cbr/\u003eRumsfeld said US interests could \"suffer a great deal of damage\" from charges that go months and months without being verified.\u003cbr/\u003eRumsfeld told reporters that Defence Department lawyers had advised him to be careful what he said on the matter because, as defence secretary, his remarks about the specifics of the case could complicate the proceedings.\u003cbr/\u003eRumsfeld made clear, however, that he is worried by publicity about the allegations, whatever their merit.\u003cbr/\u003eThese were the first public comments Rumsfeld has made about the matter. \u003cbr/\u003eHe spoke with reporters who flew with him to
